Titan Publishing have sent out a letter to the subscribers of the UK exclusive Transformers Animated comic letting them know that the comic has been cancelled and that no further issues will be printed. The last official issue was number 3 that was released on the 18th December 2008. Whether or not the stories / art for other issues will be made available to fans in another way is not know, but is exceedingly unlikely. This is sad news for UK fans of Transformers Animated who are already finding it hard to find the toys with the distribution hit by the closure of Woolworths as well as wavering sales.
The tells subscribers (of which we are included) that their subscriptions will be automatically transfered to the normal Transformers Comic. If you wish to have it changed to another publication then you must ring them on 08448560649 quoting "TANI TRANSFER"
| Moonbug 2009-01-06 20:33:08 | We have every issue, and one twice, but I have to admit that the quality of the stories, and drawings, weren't up to modern standards - though it did give it a unique feel. Two Transformers comics was always going to be hard to pull off, especially as the Animated one appeared not to have any on-going storyline - and wasn't acknowledged by the makers of the original cartoon.Still, it's a shame, and I fear for Transformers UK now. If it can last until the release of ROTF then it may be able to get some sales back after ... read on ... |
| minion 2009-01-06 17:15:15 | Sad news, but I admit to not buying it at all despite my love for Animated. The comic was pretty poor, even compared to the Movie one which I only liked for the A4 style reprints of US material. |
| phantomfish 2009-01-06 14:13:14 | Titan are obviously losing business as they have recently cut back on some of their other magazines (namely Batman Legends and Superman Legends) which were publish every 3 weeks have now been made bi-monthly. I would say its more of a downturn in business for Titan rather than a reflection on the comic itself. But to be fair I did think the Animated comic was very poor and not really worth the money as 60% of the comic was dedicated to a strip ripped off the TV. |
| KingGrimlock 2009-01-06 14:10:39 | You can almost hear the bell tolling for Animated in the UK. The toyline seems to have ground to a halt after Wave 4, which in its self was around a month late for release... not good... |
| Phill 2009-01-06 13:33:31 | Compared to the other Movie-Verse comic I actually found the Animated one pretty hard to find. Out of the shops that I checked for it, only 1 Tesco had it on a month-to-month basis. Others like McColls didn't even carry it. |
