Alternators Shockwave reshell into 1971 Muscle car!

Here he is, finally complete. My first of many to come "Musclebots". The idea of these guys is to take the Autobots and Decepticons we all know and love, and completely change their alt modes as if they came to earth during the golden era of the vintage American Muscle car (1960's and 70's). First up we have Shockwave. When i first saw a picture of a purple 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda online, i immediately thought of Shockwave. Just the combination of the purple paint and that big aggressive grille which looks like G1 Shockwave's chest area, it was a perfect fit. So i got to work. I took a bog standard Alternators Shockwave/blast, bought a 1/24 scale plastic model kit of a Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda, and got to work cutting stuff up. Once the major building and fabrication work was done i moved on to paint. The real car has a very specific shade of purple which is called "plum crazy" purple. I could not find this shade ANYWHERE, and when i did it was waaay too much $$$ to buy and to ship, so i went to my old man and asked him if he could mix me up a custom shade. He mixed up a close to the original base coat, which i then lacquered and added some purple pearl powder to and it came out perfect! This is about as close as you can get to the real factory color and it looks awesome on the toy as you can see. The paint has been wet sanded and then buffed just like a real full-size custom paint job!
Once the paint was done i airbrushed the side graphics and decided to give it a nice little custom touch, replacing the "Hemi" lettering with a painted on Decepticon logo.
I then chrome-painted the bumpers, and added bare metal foil to the trim.
I decided to give the hood an era-correct matte black paint job, and added some scratch built hood pins.
Most of the interior was sacrificed for the build, but the interiors to Alts were pretty superfluous anyway so its no big deal. The wheels cannot rotate either, another sacrifice to keep the wheels from having pins drilled through them and ruining the look. The front wheels detach via strong rare earth magnets, as i had to make them that way because with the added width of the 1971 'Cuda body, the original wheels no longer fit next to the fenders behind the shoulders in the robot mode like they did on the original, much narrower Mazda RX-7 body.
But as you can see, you cannot see any of these sacrifices when the piece is on display.

I used to advocate "freeing toys from their plastic prisons" but now it seems the "space" issue is starting to catch me up.

Although I have to say I've been a good boy and only kept prized characters like Artfire, Shokaract, CatSCAN, Windrazor, Airrazor, Sandstorm and collectors club Astrotrain in their contained states.

Anyone got a bunch of stuff still sealed anymore?

Actually I'm quite alarmed at how many people are selling off their collections to be honest

Personally, I'm very happy to hear that the Fall of Cybertron toyline will be continuing in a big way. Full toyline by the sound of it, covering several size classes.

Value of Energon,Armada,Galaxy Force etc

Hi Guys,

I recently listed a few MOC/MOSC Energon items on ebay so I'd hit my quota and try to help keep me in food/energon for a little longer!

I barely got any hits on MOSC/MOC Energon items and they barely made £1 each!

Is this just a sign of everyone belt-tightening, ebay being quiet or is this actually what these toys are worth?

I've also got some MIB/MOSC Galaxy Force, Cybertron, Micron Legend and even Rid that I'd be looking to release but if this the value of them I'd be better off just throwing them away (after all the usual ebay hassle), it's just not worth selling them.

Come on guys give me some hope, someone must like Energon? Would I better off grouping them into a single auction and selling off in lots?

I'll be concentrating on Star Wars over the next couple of weeks but I'd really like to hear your thoughts on this x

Quality of plastic in Transformers

Hi GUYS.
Ive started this thread because I wanted to know what your thoughts were on the quality of plastic on The Transformers of the last 2 years, the reason being is that i have noticed a lot of my DOTM figures have a lot of stress marks on them and certain TF prime figures I have also have stress marks. I also compared the plastic from the first live action movie toys to the plastic on the DOTM toys and the plastic is much better quality on the first movie toys, and even ROTF has better plastic also. I guess you guys have noticed but its putting me off collecting, I dont know if I should keep collecting new figures coming out or focus on collecting things from past era's I have missed but want.

So who's bought this year's exclurives, Over-run and SG Drift?

I was finally able to rejoin the club, and had money for the figures, but once I saw the Shipping costs to the UK, I knew I'd have to make sacrifices elsewhere.

Add in that I'll definatly get hit by customs charges, and it makes them a very expensive pair of figures.

The thing I found funny were the typical Americans that were complaining about $15 shipping charges.

Small Scale Power Up

Hi. Just want to share my previous custom that i have never replicated again. Its a reduce custom version of Leader Class Power Up Prime. Its about 10 inches tall and has a Big Gun custom weapon. This is a replica and wont transform but has the same body articulations. Enjoy!
