Hero Collector and Hasbro Join Forces

To Bring Transformers Chess To Kickstarter

(London, UK – 13 August, 2021) Hero Collector – award-winning designers and publishers of high-quality collectibles from across the worlds of pop culture – is joining forces with Hasbro to launch their first ever Kickstarter campaign: an all-new Transformers Chess Set!

This epic chess set will feature 32 unique game pieces – 16 for the heroic Autobots and 16 for the villainous Decepticons – created specifically for the Kickstarter and modelled on the classic 1980s Generation One (G1) Transformers animated cartoon! Each model is digitally sculpted, then cast in metallic resin and painted by hand. The sculpts, which show the Transformers in their robot form, were developed with Hasbro and are based on the original animation designs and careful study of the animated series.

Standing 4-6” tall on a base marked with the symbol for the relevant chess piece, these robotic warriors will wage war on an exclusive Cybertron-themed chess board, with color-coded symbols in Autobot red or Decepticon purple. These two warring factions include such iconic characters as:

• Autobot King: Optimus Prime. The beloved commander of the Autobots, Optimus Prime championed freedom in countless clashes across Cybertron – and Earth, where he adopted his famous truck alternate mode.

• Autobot Knight: Hot Rod. A young and brash Autobot with a race car alt-mode, Hot Rod eventually grew to lead the Autobots – as Rodimus Prime!

• Autobot Pawn: Bumblebee. The heart of the Autobots, Bumblebee was quick to befriend their human allies in his iconic yellow beetle alt-mode.

• Autobot Pawn: Prowl. The surly strategist of the Autobots, Prowl’s police car alt-mode suited his no-nonsense personality.

• Decepticon King: Megatron. The feared leader and founder of the Decepticons, and the eternal nemesis of Optimus Prime, Megatron sought nothing less than complete iron-fisted domination of Cybertron!

• Decepticon Queen: Starscream. The scheming second-in-command of the Decepticons, Starscream constantly plotted to overthrow Megatron.

• Decepticon Knight: Soundwave. The loyal comms officer of the Decepticons, Soundwave gathered intelligence using his trio of cassette-minions.

• Decepticon Knight: Shockwave. The ops commander of the Decepticons, Shockwave’s cold logic and laser-turret mode made him a deadly threat.

Transformers writer Flint Dille is starting to sell off some of his personal Transformers items from his days at Sunbow. He's already sold of one of the Transformers posters that was on the wall and has now placed his first auction up on eBay for a Transformers promotional folder with episode summaries from season one of the cartoon.

James Eatock (Cereal Geek) has revealed more of his finds of never-seen-before Generation One preproduction material via Instagram.

Following on from the blue Bluestreak cell and animation colour sheet James revealed a coloured animation cell of Ravage with his original blue and red colour scheme!

James Eatock, better known as Cereal Geek, have revealed, via Instagram, the first two pieces of an "outstanding batch" of pre-production Transformers material he recently acquired and they are none other than proof that not only was Bluestreak originally going to retain his infamous diaclone blue colour scheme as a toy in the Transformers brand but that the colour scheme was kept all the way through to the animation models and cell production!!

We're getting close to the end of the Transformers Generation One Sunbow/Marvel Productions studio audio tapes that we currently own but we're going to be going out strong starting with this near 8 minute video covering the audio from A Plague of Insecticons.

The audio is from an unslugged tape which means it includes Wally Burr's introduction and a whole host of Insecticons "body English" segments featuring the vocal talents of Hal Rayle, Michael Bell and Clive Revill.

This is an original recording from the 1984 Transformers Cartoon featuring a one on one session between director Wally Burr and actor Chris Latta.

The session was to record four minutes of library sounds for the Decepticon Laserbeak.

For 32 years it was believed that Frank Welker was the voice of Laserbeak.  Whilst posting some of the original Transformers Generation One session recordings it was noticed, by Chris McFeely, that the Laserbeak squawks sounded like Chris Latta.  Further recordings would indeed prove this hypothesis.

Please sit back and enjoy this previously never hear session between two Transformers greats.  

The audio contained within this video has been taken from an original cassette recording of a one-to-one studio session between Wally Burr (directing) and Frank Welker (performing), with the tape dated 9th August 1984.

The session features vocoded effects for Ravage and is from the Transformers Generation One series. The audio was recorded during the Season One sessions and was added to the end of a cassette containing the unslugged audio for War of the Dinbots along with audio of the Hound / Rumble fight from the episode More Than Meets The Eye.

It's been confirmed by both his wife and daugher, on Facebook, that Dick Gautier passed away on Jan 13th 2017. Dick is best known by Transformers fans for voicing Rodimus Prime in Season 3 of Generation One. He was also well known for voicing Serpentor.

This video contains the cut and altered studio audio from the Transformers Generations One cartoon episode Fire In The Sky. The audio is from an original slugged cassette and if from the sessions when Skyfire was still referred to as Jetfire. This audio was never used in the final released version.

Our series looking at the missing and altered scenes from the Transformers Generation One cartoon series continues with Divide and Conquer. Once again Dan Gilvezan was missing from the recording session(s) that produced the unslugged tape that this audio has been transferred form and, as such, his dialogue was simply skipped. Compared to previous episodes there was less dialogue cut from this episode.
