As promised, the big one, this Japanese Magazine update includes what we believe are the first ever images of the five Gold Beast Wars Transformers Prize toys as well as the origin of the Lucky Draw Red Convoy figure.
You will find scans of TV Magazine from the 5 of the first 6 months of 1998 (the second half of the year will be available in the next 3 days). Follow the link below for the images that you would have never seen before.
These magazines include images of the Cardboard Convoy (Optimus Primal figure), Gold Convoy (Gold Optimus Primal), Gold Megatron, Gold Cheetor, Gold Rhinox, Gold Ratrap and Gold Dinobot. The scans of this magazine confirm their existence and explains why they have never been seen for sale. Also included are the campaign for Lucky Draw Red Convoy (not Burning Convoy), the Cardboard Lio Convoy figures.
For reference
- Gold Optimus Primal (Convoy) - limited to 10. 1 in a set of 5, 3 in a set of 2, 6 individual
- Gold Megatron - limited to 3 (only available in a set with Convoy)
- Gold Cheetor - limited to 1 (part of the set of 5)
- Gold Dinobot - limited to 1 (part of the set of 5)
- Gold Rattrap - limited to 1 (part of the set of 5)
- Gold Rhinox - limited to 1 (part of the set of 5)

Transformers At The Moon and Lucky Draw Transformers are proud to bring you the first ever confirmed images (that we know off) and information on the first Beast Wars Lucky Draw Transformers. The include never seen before images of Gold Convoy, Gold Cheetor, Gold Rhinox, Gold Rattrap and Gold Dinobot along with information on the release.
Steve and I picked this magazine up in November 2010, and I've only just got around to scanning and translating it .. and it was, to me, quiet shocking.
The text states the following prizes were available.
- 3 people would win 1 set of Gold Convoy and Megatron
- 1 person would win 1 set of 5 Gold Beast Wars figures, Convoy, Cheetas, Rattilus, Rhinox and Dinobot
- 6 people would win a Gold Convoy
The toys are actually referred to as "glittering".
This confirms the following figures
- Gold Convoy - 10
- Gold Megatron - 3
- Gold Cheetor - 1
- Gold Dinobot - 1
- Gold Rattrap - 1
- Gold Rhinox -1
For anyone who wants an original of this you need to purchase TV Magazine March 1998
For our "Lucky Draw Magazine project" this and the confimation of Gold Big Convoy are two of the three holy grails. We just have the colouring contest Beast Wars II to go.

This is a hot of the press band new news story based on something that happened 12 years ago. As part of yet another haul of back issues of TV Magazine we've managed to finally pick up documented proof of the Lucky Draw Beast Ware figures. Previously only rumours have circulated regarding these, but now we haev full first hand proof of the toys, including images (though they are on yellow pages.
We can now confirm that in the March 1998 issue of TV Magazine the following Beast Wars prize draw figures took place.
1) 1x Gold Convoy + Gold Megatron
2) 6x Gold Convoys
3) 1x Gold Convoy, Gold Cheetas, Gold Rhinox, Gold Rattrap, Gold Dinobot
This is the first time that the Gold Beast Wars figures of Cheetor, Rhinox, Rattrap and Dinobot have been confirmed, as well as showing that 8 Gold Optimus Primals (Convoy's) were given out during a draw with only 1 Megatron (previously reported as limited to 3).
We will upload images to Lucky Draw Transformers and Transformers At The Moon in due course

Following on from our three "BotCon toy sample" galleries, we've released the fourth new gallery to the site today. This time it's TV Magazine Lucky Draw Gold Convoy who gets the spotlight.
The figure is limited to 5 prizes, in the TV Magazine draw (which ran in December), although three additional testshots have appeared (and been sold) to collectors. The gallery highlights the three differences found on the toys, as we ponder the question of what the final released prize campign toy will look like. Usually it takes between 3 and 4 months for the prize toys to make it onto the collectors market.
Stay tuned to Lucky Draw Transformers and Transformers At The Moon for more Lucky Draw Transformers galleries later this month.

Lucky Draw Transformers.com has been updated with some images of the
gold chrome Transformers Movie Starscream and Voyager Optimus Prime toys which were recently pictured on ebay (a day after we showed the scans of the original draw).
The pictures are a little blurry but you can get the idea of what both toys look like. Lucky Draw Gold Starscream is the first Blister Packaged Lucky Draw Transformers toys and was limited to 5.
The
Gold Transformers Movie Optimus Prime gallery now includes the first boxed image of the toy. This image confirms that the finalised version of the Gold Optimus Prime toy is in fact the same as our loose version of the figure.

You will find three new image galleries in the Transformers In The Media section of Transformers At The Moon which include images from our Beast Wars II book which show the Gold Convoy and Red Convoy Lucky Draw Transformers toys. We've shown these images before, on LuckyDrawTransformers.com, but they were lost during it's migration to the current look.

We are very excited to bring you an update to our Beast Wars Neo Gold Big Convoy toy image gallery. We now own the toy, the only one we've seen, and you can find images of the figure in all three modes as well as a few close-ups and comparison images.
We are still not 100% sure on the original of the figure? Is it a Lucky Draw toy which has previously not been documented? Is it a Takara staff item, such as the Green Lio Convoy, or something more untoward?
