Website CompetitionsWhen the Transformers film is released generally throughout the UK and Ireland tomorrow, a massive 940 prints will being used, that means that 940 screenings of Transformers could, potentially, take place across the country at the same time. Transformers is not expected to reach number one at the UK box office, due to the strength of the Harry Potter series, however it is being predicted to gross more during its run than its main competitor the Simpsons Movie. Press reviews of the film have been strong (other than on the Murdoch owned papers, now there is a surprise, what with Fox also being part of his group).

We urge everyone in the fan community to go out and support the film by seeing it at least once in the cinema and to encourage your friends, family and neighbours to go see it and help make Transformers a UK blockbuster, if nothing else if this film is a massive success within the UK, then it may well make the "powers that be" take notice of just how strong the UK based fan base is. Remember, if you are on Orange you can always make use of the Orange Wednesdays offer to see the film again at a cheaper price. Other cinemas also offer a discount night, so make sure to check your local cinemas for such offers. Perhaps see the film for the first time this weekend, then look back over our news stories at the various bloopers that we've spotted and reported, and then go see it again on a cheaper night and see if you can spot them as well as any others.

Stay with Transformers At The Moon as we will look to bring you official word on how Transformers performs at the box office.

Website CompetitionsLast night we went to our 5th screening of the new Transformers Movie, this time it was the VIP Screening at the Apollo Cinema in Piccadilly Circus. The showing was for 170 people made up of reporters from glossy magazines and various celebrities. Transformers At The Moon was was in full-force, thanks to an invite from Paramount Pictures and we can report that the following stars were in attendance (some we saw, thanks to Sarah for pointing them out, others we personally did not).

Natasha Bedingfield
Alesha Dixon (formally part of Mis-Teeq)
Lisa Maffia (originally from So Solid Crew then a solo artist)
Simon Webbe (Blue)
Dave Berry (TV Presenter).
Alfie Allen (actor)

Matt Di Angelo (actor / Eastenders)

Emma Griffiths (presenter / model)
Donald McIntyre (Columist on the Independant)

Various other celebrities from music, film and tv were there (we're hoping to get a list to you all).

As you'd expect security was high, both inside and outside of the cinema, with tons of paparazzi outside the cinema trying to photograph those going in. The VIP guests were photograph in front of a Transformers Movie standee, for advertising shots, and we saw a few people being photograph when leaving.

The screening went well, with the guests seemingly enjoying the film, although less vocal then any of the previous four screenings I've been to. A VIP goody-bag was given to those in attendance, supplied by Forbidden Planet. It contained:-

  • Transformers Movie Sticker Book
  • 1 pack of Transformers Movie stickers
  • Transformers Movie transforming pen
  • Transformers Movie notepad
  • Transformers Movie wristband
  • Various bars of chocolate and Haribo sweets
  • Forbidden Planet Transformers logo bag
It was great fun attending the event again, although we were a tad under-dressed for the event (to quote a line from the new film). Megan Fox couldn't make the showing due to late filming, she was due to do an introduction, but was replaced by TV presenter Dave Berry. Although his talk sounded a little pre-written it was pretty funny and entertaining, and from what he was saying before the showing he did sound like a fan when he was younger.

Website CompetitionsDon't forget there are still a few days left to enter our Ultimate Transformers Movie Preview competition, with prizes worth over £50. We still haven't received the Transformers The Music CDs from Warner Brothers Music, so it doesn't look like they will be added into the winners pack / runners-up packages at first. Once the items arrive, which WB assure us they will, then we'll be contacting the winner / runners-up to get their addresses to send them out to them.

Website Competitions Paramount Pictures UK have now issued their press release on the success of the Transformers Movie (following on from Paramount US release). Below you will find the original snippet with the full release soon to follow. The action blockbuster stormed into the traditionally tough July 4 holiday rising day-on-day to take $29.1m - setting the all-time record for the holiday ahead of SPIDER-MAN 2's $21.9m.

The three-day (July 6-8) weekend saw the behemoth add $70.9m. This brings the colossal six-day total (including Monday July 2 previews) to $155.8m - cracking yet another record to become the biggest first week for a non-sequel in history. The result beat 2002's SPIDER-MAN which recorded $151.6m in its launch week.

TRANSFORMERS is already fast approaching the $100m mark in international box office, currently standing on $96.7m. Worldwide the film has already surpassed the $250m mark, with a total gross of $252.5m.

Website CompetitionsParamount have informed us that they started to send the emails out to the winners of our competition to see the Transformers Movie on Friday 22nd. We've had a few worried emails from some people who have not received their emails. Don't panic, we're sure they are on the way.

There is a lot of Transformers Movie advertisements going on this week in the UK, so they are probably just busy.

Website CompetitionsIf you haven't already entered our Transformers Movie competition, in association with Paramount Pictures UK, then you haven't got much time left. Simply email us your name, and your guests name, to transformers@themoon.co.uk before midnight tonight (GMT).

We'll then be speaking to Paramount Pictures on Monday to get the final ticket allocations, before the winners are drawn.

The competition to win the Transformers t-shirts from Thumbs Up UK Ltd also ends today. We'll be announcing the winners tomorrow.

Website Competitions If you've not already entered, then we'd urge you to look at the two competitions we're currently running. Competition One is in association with Thumbs Up UK Ltd, where we're offering a pair of light up Transformers T-Shirts. The final hint for this competition is "look at the Top Trumps news". - which basically gives you the answer.

The second competition is "the big one", where Paramount Pictures UK are offering you the chance to win a pair of tickets (exact numbers of the pairs are still un-confirmed) to attend an FDA Multimedia Screening of the Transformers Movie on Friday the 22nd of June. All you have to do is email us your names.

Winners of the Thumbs Up UK competition will be named on the site. Winners of the Paramount Pictures UK competition will be emailed and not named on the site (as entry to the screening is via a guest list).

Update: Just to clarify a couple of points regarding the Transformers Movie competition. Though no minimum age has been give to us from Paramount, you'll need to be over the age to view the film in the cinema so therefore we're putting a minimum age limit of 13 for applicants and guests.

We've been asked can you enter more than once. The simple answer is no, although you can be the named guess of up to five people. This is because we want to keep the competition fair and give everyone a chance to win some tickets.
