For those of you keeping up-to-date with everything going on here at Auto Assembly HQ, you will know that we have already released details of what is taking place on the Friday night at Auto Assembly 2013 with our special Night Of The Bumblebee for those attendees are joining us for the weekend. However, after months of work, we are now able to bring you the full schedule for the weekend for the convention!
This is now available to download from the Auto Assembly website at http://www.autoassembly.org.uk/AutoAssembly2013Programme.pdf and as you will see, we have a packed weekend on offer split over four function rooms at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel with things kicking off on Friday 9th August 2013 and running on right until Sunday 11th August 2013. We have a wide range of different panels and workshops on each day so to experience everything that Auto Assembly 2013 has to offer you really will want a weekend pass for the event. As we do every year at the convention, the Friday and Saturday evenings are reserved exclusively for weekend ticket holders. Some of this year’s highlights include:
* An exclusive reading from Bumblebee And Me by Dan Gilvezan (Friday Night) * An IDW Panel featuring Andrew Griffith, Alex Milne James Roberts and Nick Roche (Saturday) * A Regeneration One Panel featuring John-Paul Bove, Simon Furman and Andrew Wildman (Saturday) * The 2013 Script Reading featuring Steve Blum, Dan Gilvezan and Neil Kaplan (Saturday Night) * Q&A Panels with our voice actors (Neil Kaplan on Saturday, Dan Gilvezan and Steve Blum on Sunday) * Q&A Panel featuring Jim Sorenson (Sunday) * Youtube, Kitbash, Art and Colourist Workshops (various, all weekend)
For those of you who haven’t booked your tickets yet, or who have never attended Auto Assembly before, everything listed in the programme is included in the ticket price! Once you have paid for your tickets, all you will need to pay for after that is your travel, accommodation, food and drink and for anything that you buy from our dealers. We don’t charge for workshops and our guests do not charge for autographs. Our artists will sell original artwork, prints and sketches and some of our voice actors may bring items with them for sale, but none of them will charge to sign any items that you bring with you to the event.
You can see everything by downloading the Auto Assembly 2013 Programme and if you have already booked a single day pass and now want to upgrade for a full weekend ticket to experience everything that Auto Assembly 2013 has to offer, email us at contact@autoassembly.org.uk to take advantage of our great upgrade offer!
With the convention taking place in less than a month's time, there is no better time to register to be a part of this year's event. We are also pleased to announce that we have now EXTENDED the deadline for pre-booking tickets. Many people contacted us about the original 30th July deadline telling us that they didn't get paid until the beginning or end of the month so this made things difficult for them to book, especially as they were unsure if they could attend until then. As a result we have now extended pre-bookings until 1st August 2013.
However, if this payment deadline is still likely to be a problem for you but you still want to pre-register, please contact us as we may be able to assist you rather than leaving you in a position of having to but on-the-door tickets.
Auto Assembly 2013 is Europe's largest Transformers convention and is taking place over the weekend of 9th - 11th August 2013 at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel. To book your tickets or find out more including details of all the dealers attending, all of our guests and a full schedule for the weekend, visit the website at www.autoassembly.org.uk
Auto Assembly have released the following information regarding issues with the Hilton's online booking system
In recent weeks, it has become apparent that there have been some issues with the Hilton’s Auto Assembly mini site (accessible via the link found in your AA ticket confirmation emails). Whilst the technical hitch has not affected all site users, it was causing some attendees to have difficulties booking rooms for certain periods over the Auto Assembly 2013 convention weekend.
We are pleased to confirm that having been in discussions with the Hilton for the past few days, the issue now appears to have been resolved. Furthermore we have successfully negotiated a deal whereby the Hilton has kindly agreed to afford extra rooms for Auto Assembly attendees, such has been the popular demand. We hope this will go some way to helping everybody out.
We would however bring the following points to your attention.
If you attempt to start a booking, but then leave the website, you may be blocked from re-entering later. To counter this please clear your browser cookies and ensure that you do not allow the page to time out. (This will not happen quickly – basically just don’t wander off mid-booking!)
Due to excellent ticket sales, currently running over 10% above time time last year, there are limited rooms remaining at the Hilton, even taking into account the new rooms which have been added for us.To avoid disappointment, please book as soon as you are able to.
Thanks for your understanding – we look forward to seeing you at the Hilton in under 9 weeks!
Beast Wars fans may want to make plans to travel to Canada later this year as TFCon have announed that Venus Terzo, voice of Blackarachnia, will be in attendance
TFcon is very pleased to welcome voice actor Venus Terzo the voice of Blackarachnia in Beast Wars and Beast Machines to TFcon 2013. Ms. Terzo will be taking part in Q&A panels and autograph sessions with the attendees of the world’s largest fan-run Transformers convention.
TFcon 2013 features Canada's largest dealer room for Transformers merchandise, question and answer panels and autograph sessions with many special guests including Transformers voice actors JACK ANGEL the voice of Astrotrain, Breakdown, Cyclonus, Omega Supreme, Ramjet, Smokescreen and Ultra Magnus in the Generation 1 cartoon plus DICK GAUTIER the voice of Rodimus Prime, along with Transformers comic book artist Livio Ramondelli with more to be announced. The TFcon 2013 hotel block is now available.
Auto Assembly 2013 Kitbash Workshop Add-On Unveiled – BAD COP!
We know you’ve all been waiting patiently for details on this, but we’re now proud to unveil this year’s exclusive Kitbash Add-On Pack for Auto Assembly 2013!
In conjunction with Keith’s Fantasy Club and Sensible Collectibles, we are proud to present another add-on kit following the huge success of last year’s very succesful Kitbash Workshop, which will again be accompanied by an exclusive workshop at the convention itself. This kit is a new and exciting add-on kit to convert a readily available Hasbro figure into a new character for your “Classics” Transformers collection.
We took the feedback from last years add-on kit, and we feel we have vastly improved on last years kit. Partnering with Keith’s Fantasy Club, this add-on kit is a much simpler affair than last years, and comes with a fully painted factory quality ABS plastic head and light-bar, and a pre-cut sticker sheet.
This will be available in two different forms – both extremely limited – and each will include the brand new and unique exclusive BAD COP head and light bar at a new, lower price compared with the Auto Assembly 2012 kit!
The Gold Pack contains the base figure (a FE TF Prime Vehicon figure, unreleased in the UK), the exclusive head and light bar, and a pre-cut sticker set. These are strictly limited to 50 sets and are £30 each. The Silver Pack contains the exclusive head, and uncut sticker set. These have a production run of 100 sets and are £15 each.
The Gold Packs are available to convention attendees ONLY but the Silver Packs will be available as part of the Non-Attendee Pack which will be unveiled in the next 24 hours! Both the Gold and Silver Packs will be available to pre-order through the website from tomorrow, as are our existing convention exclusives.
Sales of these will be restricted and Gold Packs will be limited to one per person and the Silver Packs will be limited to a maximum of two per person to ensure that as many people as possible can get these. As we have said, supplies of these are limited so they will be made available on a strictly first come, first served basis. If you haven't already registered for Auto Assembly 2013 and want to get one of these kits then book your tickets now as we can not hold these aside for people who have not registered!
No particular skill set is needed in order to complete your figure, as they are designed for novice customisers, however how to convert the set will be demonstrated in the kitbash seminar. Auto Assembly and KFC accept no responsibility if you damage or fail to complete your kitbash, and we offer the service of the Kitbash Seminar and follow-up online resources including the video of the workshop that will be released after the convention merely as a guide to assist you, with no guarantees as to the end result.
With regards to the convention itself, we will be joined at Auto Assembly 2013 by Dan Gilvezan (G1 Bumblebee), Neil Kaplan (RiD Prime) and Steve Blum (TF: Prime Starscream), as well as our literary guests Simon Furman, James Roberts, Nick Roche, Andrew Griffith, Jim Sorenson and many more.

Auto Assembly have made another guest announcement for this years event and it's none other than Jim Sorenson!! Yes after a 3 year absence from Auto Assembly, Jim, who's last UK show appearance was at Roll Out Roll Call where he and Bill Forster announced the release of their G.I-Joe Field Manual books, Jim is returning but will he be bringing the fez?
Here is a copy of the official announcement:
After a three year absence, we are proud to announce that writer Jim Sorenson is making a much-overdue return to Auto Assembly for the 2013 convention taking place over the weekend of 9th – 11th August 2013.
In his own words, Jim is a super-secret spy, has a motorcycle, marooned in space, meets Hercules… or not… He’s been a long-time fan of science-fiction literature in general and Transformers in particular. His guidebooks are well regarded by the fan communities for their exhaustive attention to detail. Reports of his incarceration in another dimension should be dismissed as the unfounded rumors they are.
He has been working for IDW since 2006 and in that time he has been responsible (solely and in collaboration with Bill Forster) for Transformers: The Ark, The Ark Volume II, The AllSpark Almanac, The Complete Ark, The AllSpark Almanac II. He is currently working on Transformers Legacy and the Transformers: 30th Anniversary Collection. In addition to these he also wrote the GI: Joe field Manuals, volumes 1 and 2 and is currently working on a new Robotech RPG supplement. Jim’s blog can be found at http://boltax.blogspot.co.uk/
At Auto Assembly 2010 Jim presented Oddities And Curiosities, a retrospective look at 25 years of rare Transformers artwork to a crowd of over 500 people in Birmingham, England and he will be taking to the stage at the convention for a Q&A Panel… who knows what he will say this time around!
If you have not already booked for the convention, tickets are still available and they can be purchased from the site at: http://www.autoassembly.org.uk/auto-assembly-2013-ticket-bookings/ but they are selling faster than ever this year so book early to avoid disappointment as we do have a cut-off of 1,000 attendees this year!
As well as Jim, we are being joined at the convention by Dan Gilvezan (G1 Bumblebee), Neil Kaplan (RiD Prime) and Steve Blum (TF: Prime Starscream), as well as comic guests Simon Furman, James Roberts, Andrew Griffith, Nick Roche, and many more.

We promised you more guests for Auto Assembly 2013, and we can now confirm that Regeneration One colourist John-Paul Bove is making a welcome return to Auto Assembly. As we are still in post-Auto Assembly 2012 recovery mode, many of our team are trying to get some rest after this year’s convention although we are making some preliminary plans for Auto Assembly 2013. As such we haven’t started sending out any of the confirmation emails yet for those of you who have booked tickets for Auto Assembly 2013. Rest assured that these will be going out shortly, but we are in the process of wrapping up all of the final paperwork for Auto Assembly 2012 first as well including the despatach of all of out Non-Attendee Packs.
So if you’ve ordered tickets, booked dealers tables, purchased one of our Passes For Life, or qualified for complimentary passes through volunteering for Auto Assembly 2012, then check your inboxes over the next few weeks as we’re hoping to get confirmation emails sent out by the first week of September by which point we’ll be start work properly on Auto Assembly 2013… and making the first announcements regarding the rest of next year’s guests!
Hundreds of thousands of fans are expected to be in attendance over the course of Auto Assembly 2012 ... oh no, wait, that's for the other small event taking place isn't it (London Olympics 2012). Though not on the same scale, today marks the opening of Auto Assembly 2012, confirmed to be Europe's Largest ever Transformers Convention (on pre-registration alone).
Joining us in Birmingham are comic starts from IDW Publishing from all of their Transformers books, Transformers More Than Meets The Eye, Transformers Robots in Disguise and Transformers Regeneration. In addition we have three voice actors flying over for Auto Assembly, all making their European Transformers Convention début (some for their first trip to the UK). We have Michael Bell (voice of G1 Prowl, Springer, Sideswipe and many others), Paul Eiding (voice of G1 Perceptor) and Townsend Coleman (voice of Transformers Animated Sentinel Prime - and a rather popular show called The Tick!)
The show starts tonight and lasts until Sunday, and don't forget what happened last year on Saturday night with the surprise guest appearance.
Auto Assembly 2012 Sets New European Attendance Record!
With over four weeks to go Auto Assembly 2012 is set to be a huge success once again. Since 2005 we have proudly held the attendance record for a European Transformers convention and today we have broken our previous record that we set in 2010! This sets a new landmark for us at the convention as we have only previously set new records or attendance figure milestones at the convention itself.
Bookings are still coming in at a fantastic rate as we are now in our traditional rush period and we have still yet to announce some of the late surprises that we have in store for you. We have some great competitions lined up, another guest to announce, some great announcements for those of you who have been with us for several years, an update on this year's convention exclusive litho and our other exclusives, more artwork from our comic, and much more besides!
Auto Assembly 2012 IS Europe's largest EVER Transformers convention and is taking place over the weekend of 3rd - 5th August 2012 at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel. To book your tickets or find out information about booking dealers tables, to sponsor the event or to enquire about advertising with us, visit the website at http://www.autoassembly.org.uk
We want to remind all of you that there are now only five weeks to go until Auto Assembly 2012! If you haven’t already booked your tickets for this year’s event then we’d recommend that you book your tickets as soon as possible. Please don’t leave it until the last minute folks – not only does it leave us with more work processing bookings and producing passes, often doing it at the hotel itself, but last year we had a staggering 40% of our total ticket sales in the last 5 weeks and almost a third of those were in the final week!
Ticket wise, we are way ahead of where were were last year and right now we are at the point now where we were when pre-registrations had CLOSED last year so hurry and get your tickets so you’re not disappointed! We are now very close to beating the attendance figure we reached in 2010 so in the next few days we are also likely to set a new European attendance record for a Transformers convention so if you want to be a part of this, you know what to do!
