Another casualty...
Had to empty a cabinet today which included my Rattrap toy shelf. This is what I found. Sad

Thankfully I have another MOSC, but don't want to open him.

Fox Kids Rattrap joins the ranks of the fallen alongside Rampage and TM1 Cheetor.

Re: Another casualty...
Yup. That vac metal just doesn't last. If I touch it now it's like glitter powder coming off in your hand.
I replaced my Rampage with a boxed Japanese one (cooler 'cause of the X on the back), but I have yet to replace my Cheetor.

Just makes you live in fear of your collection. Sad

Re: Another casualty...
It doesn't appear to be every figure just certain ones in my collection. BW TM Scourge and BM Ultra Jetstorm are both suffering badly. I love Jetstorm but hate that there is nothing I can do about it. I would love to find someone who could customise Jetstorm back to normal colours for a reasonable price.

Harsh!
Ones I have which you may want to watch out for:
TM2 Cheetor > Purple layer like glitter as you described.
RID Megs

Re: Another casualty...
Hmm I wonder if a clearcoat might fix the problem... or it might just eat the transmetal...

If the chrome in't adhering to the plastic properly as would seem to be the case, clearcoat could just make the chrome layer heavier, in which case it would flake off faster.

The only beast wars figures I own are transmetal Cheetor and Rampage, both second hand and, touch wood, both in reasonable shape in terms of chrome. I guess it just varies.

Re: Another casualty...
Moonbug told me about this today I need to start checking ours as the Beast Wars TM figures haven't come off their shelf of one of the cupboards in several years.

Being boxed is no guarantee!

I have a sealed ehobby gold meister/jazz and you can see minor flake damage to it through the bubble! Sad
