Pursuit of... ENERGON!

Pursuit of... ENERGON!
Really loving the GI Joe Pursuit of Cobra stuff at the mo - Basic idea is that Cobra is hitting multiple locations at once - Urban (An 'unspecified' Japanese city ... which is blatently Tokyo...), Jungle (The Rain Forests), Arctic (Um... the Arctic...) and Desert (Egypt from the sounds of it). All the figs are being merchandised with appropriate gear for one of the four conditions (with the 'big-guns' Destro, Storm Shadow, Duke and Snake Eyes getting figs for all four settings).

My question; You're dispatching 5 'bot squads to each of those locations. Autobot or Decepticon. Who ya gonna send?

URBAN

JUNGLE

Ya know... this is kinda like Dinobot Hunt...

Re: Pursuit of... ENERGON!
Neat idea. I'll do 'Cons later.

URBAN - Autobot Squad
1. Prowl - human crowd control and able to redirect human law enforcement.
2. First Aid - for first aid, human or otherwise.
3. Inferno - damage control.
4. Bumblebee - PR and plot device.
5. Jazz - to increase the cool factor for this team which is sorely lacking. Plus Jazz is all black ops and awesome.

JUNGLE- Autobot Squad
1. Sludge - hefty swamp warrior, pretty good for water combat in the Amazon.
2. Hardhead - because a good level headed soldier is always needed, plus I like the idea of him in the jungle all camo'd up.
3. Brawn - heavy lifting and general awesomeoness.
4. Outback - to hang with Brawn and teach everyone else how to make a campfire. Who wouldn't take Mic Dundee with them?
5. Cosmos - satellite imaging and recon to know where the 'Cons are.

DESERT - Autobot Squad
1. Snarl - first and foremost. The fact he absorbs solar energy and is pretty much THE desert soldier makes him indespensible in my opnion.
2. Beachcomber - because his alt mode fits the terrain. Might need to gag him though. Damn hippy!
3. Sandstorm - 'cause his name involves sand which makes him good for desert stuff Wink can't knock a buggy mode and some extra recon.
4. Sunstreaker - because listening to him complain about sand in his joints would be comedy gold.
5. Landmine - atv exploration vehicle and lots of scanners which would be pretty useful in the desert to detect those sneaky 'Cons.

Re: Pursuit of... ENERGON!
Autobots! I'll do 'Cons later.

URBAN

Ultra Magnus - City Commander - Poor sap isn't really qualified for anything else...

Blaster - Communication - For blasting through the ghettos...

Inferno - Search and Rescue - Both Medic and hazardous conditions muscle.

Red Alert - Security Director - Some tactical ability and muscle.

Huffer - Construction Engineer - Ya need a good engineer in an urban environment.[/list:u]

JUNGLE

Grimlock - Dinobot Commander - No civilians to worry about? Game on!

Swoop - Dinobot Bombardier - Aerial Support.

Sludge - Jungle War/Demolition - A no brainer...

Outback - Gunner - GI Joe Outback is a Jungle Spec... I'd reckon that the 4 wheeled Brawn knock-off with a cannon would be as well...

Repugnus - Counter Intelligence - Ugly doesn't mean much in the jungle![/list:u]

DESERT

Jetfire - Air Guardian - Bulk of the airforce in the desert methinks, makes the 'Big Guy' a good choice for boss.

Springer - Aerial Defense - Was going to have Springer as the head honcho here before I thought of Jetsy. He's got a great beduin feel in my opinion.

Highbrow - Electric Warrior - Electrical storms? In the desert? Be rude not too.

Sandstorm - Reconnaissance - Duh.

Snarl - Desert Warrior - Another no-brainer...[/list:u]

ARCTIC

Splashdown - Naval Commander - The ice should be under the province of naval operations, so I gave Splashy the Com here!

Broadside - Air/sea Assault - Sea and air covers most contingencies...

Topspin - Land/sea Assault - Land and sea covers the rest!

Slag - Flamethrower - Melty joy!

Wheelie - Survivalist - Great for hostile environs![/list:u]

Re: Pursuit of... ENERGON!
ARCTIC - Autobot Team - probably the hardest picks as it's easy to go for sea type bots, but that doesn't really cover combat and ops in the frozen climate.
1. Waverider - submarine mode might come in handy for under the ice.
2. Broadside - transport and general sea faring-ness.
3. Longtooth - coming along in case any arctic based whales attack. I figure his shell would be pretty adaptable for the temperature.
4. Groundshaker - assuming he brings along his sizeable vehicle, I thought he'd fulfill a dual role of air recon and a mobile base of operations.
5. Blaster - because communications is going to be pretty damned important in the arctic. I figure he can travel inside Groundshaker's base.

Re: Pursuit of... ENERGON!
Now for the 'Cons...

URBAN

Hun-Grr-Terrorcon Leader - Cities are ideal hotspots for terrorism... and no body does Terror better than Hun-Grrr!

Iguanus -Terror Trooper - More terror!

Skullgrin - Siege Warrior - great for holding those fiddly buildings!

Soundwave - Communications - Gotsta have comms in the city!

Chopshop - Thief - for creeping around the depths of the city...[/list:u]

JUNGLE

Razorclaw - Predacon Leader - Crazy hunter loose in the jungle? Be rude not too!

Skullcruncher - Swamp Warrior - Duh...

Apeface - Saboteur - Monkey? In the Trees!

Ravage - Saboteur - Another big cat in the jungle!

Ratbat - Fuel Scout - Acting as aerial recon.[/list:u]

DESERT

Scorponok - Headmaster Commander - Scorpion in the desert. Win.

Brawl - Ground Assault - a little armoured support...

Quake - Ground Assault - ...tanks should always be taken in pairs minimum...

Sunstorm - Warrior - Air support in the form of a bright yellow seeker... can't argue with that!

Thrust - Warrior - to pair up with Sunstorm... always use Seekers in Tandem![/list:u]

ARCTIC

Starscream - Air Commander - It occurs to me that 'Screamers insubordination and treachery might well get him sent to an undesirable location...

Blot - Foot Soldier - Ugly and brutal? Yes please!

Skalor - Amphibious Assault - More ugly brutality? Be rude not too!

Weirdwolf - Tracker - First of the winter wolves...

Fangry - Tracker - ...and the second![/list:u]

Re: Pursuit of... ENERGON!
First to choose the Autobots I need to select the Cons that are attacking.

Urban:

Megatron - Leader - Good ol megs, always goes for the city.
Starscream - Commander - Because megs wouldn't trust him to lead a different party.
Thundercracker - Goon - Smashing windows is his speciality, humans hate replacing windows.
Rumble - Goon - Loads of damage to make Prime cry.
Trypticon - Goon - Godzilla moment ahoy!

Jungle :

Shockwave - Leader - Because he is badass and hates trees (Apparently).
Buzzsaw - Commander - Because he is murderous and nimble in the woods.
Snapdragon - Goon - He smells, he is a dinosaur and he is pretty tough.
Ravage - Goon - again nimble in the jungle.
Bombshell - Goon - Mind control, and scaring the crap out the bots.

Desert:

Galvatron - Leader - He wants to build a giant time machine (again) and needs the solar.
Cyclonus - Commander - Because castle head told him to go.
Vortex - Goon - to whip up a sandstorm. Someone for Galvatron to shoot when things don't work.
Blitzswing - Goon - Tank and a plane. Enjoys the sun. Someone for Galvatron to shoot when things don't work.
Thrust - Goon - Someone for Galvatron to shoot when things don't work.

Arctic:

Soundwave - Leader - I assume the cons are only in the arctic to build some comms or something needing intelligence.
Skywarp - Commander - Keeping the security whilst Soundwave does his stuff.
Octane - Goon - Fuel and recon.
Shrapnel - Goon - Electric + Ice = fun.
Tentakil - Goon - Squid ATTACK + even more Electric for the sake of it.

Fact: Brawn isn't dead he's just been stamping on scalpers.

Re: Pursuit of... ENERGON!
Now for the Bots!

Urban:

Optimus Prime - Leader - Who else is going to sacrifice themselves for the flesh bags.
Jazz - Ops - To actually be of some use.
Metroplex - Fighter - Take down godzilla, at any cost!
Ratchet - Medic - To cart Optimus away after said heroic sacrifice.
Springer - Aerial support - and muscle, you always need it and a chopper is better in urban. Plus he can lead after OP gets fragged.

Jungle:

Grimlock - Leader - Smashing cons with trees sounds good.
Mirage - Ops - Sneaking around in the forest all invisible!
Cliffjumper - Fighter - To keep an eye on Mirage.
Fixit - Medic - To mop up, small and nimble in the forest.
Blades - Aerial Support - and up for a fight.

Desert:

Magnus - Leader - Because Galvatron will be there.
Prowl - Ops - To make up for Magnus.
Blurr - Fighter - Super fast in the desert.
Hound - Stand in medic - Galvatron is crazy, maybe a nice hologram will confuse him. Plus a real medic would be useless as they will all probably die.
Powerglide - Aerial Support - One of best flyers out there.

Arctic:

Blaster - Leader - Because he is cool (ha ha)
Perceptor - Ops - Scientific Analysis proves that the ice is most unstable at….
Brawn - Fighter - "Can it Perceptor!"
Hoist - Medic - Because First Aid wouldn't go.
Broadside - Aerial Support - and he is a boat. Plus Jetfire would crash.

Great topic, but I can't believe you both used Outback grrr!! Big Grin

Re: Pursuit of... ENERGON!
Yes, Outback is amazing. I do loves me some Brawn, but Outback is cool too.

Nice choices, Brawn. Love the fact that Magnus is only turning up because of Galvatron, and that prowl had been deployed to cover for his lameness.

I also liked you putting Screamer in the Arctic, Streaker. Serves him right! He's got a right pack of chumps to work with too. Wink

Been giving this some thought all day so now for the Decepticons:

Urban:
1. Shockwave - because he's the logicial choice to lead the Decepticons to victory - obviously!
2. Iguanus - I agree with Streaker- a terror trooper to sow panic, plus it's like a min-Godzilla attacking. Inner cycle mode great for street patrols and beating the Autobots at their own game.
3. Horri-Bull - solid ground trooper. Good for causing general destruction.
4. Motormaster - the king of the road in a city = sold! This guy could match any Autobot on the streets - except for maybe Prime!
5. Kickback - super spy to infiltrate the city ahead of the others.

Jungle:
1. Scourge - hunter/tracker. Fearsome and eager to prove to Galvatron that he is more than 2nd string to Cyclonus.
2. Bomb-Burst - (jungle) Predator - superb for stalking prey in the dense vegetation. Plus the canopy would block out a lot of sunlight, making him super effective during the day too.
3. Snarler - an underrated soldier. Brings some heavy firepower and unique abilities such as being able to saboutage enemy fuel lines.
4. Skullcruncher - same as Streaky said - just an ace jungle warrior. You need this guy for the water assault the same way the Autobots need Sludge.
5. Longhaul - he'd complain all the time, but someone needs to do the heavy lifting as the 'Cons clear a path through the jungle.

Desert:
1. Cyclonus - just the kind of unstoppable hard ass you need in a desert fight. The other Cons would be terrified of him too.
2. Divebomb - aerial recon and support.
3. Cindersaur - just when the Autobots thought the desert couldn't get any hotter...
4. Nautilator - this guy is such a screw up, he accidentally turned up for the wrong mission - DOH!
5. Swindle - jeep mode for desert conditions, if nothing rlse he'll profit from either the broken bodies of Autobots or Decepticons.

Arctic:
1. Snaptrap - cruel, evil *******. The only guy who can keep the other four in line. Plus he has the unquantifiable turtle power.
2. Icepick - demolitions, rock hard outter shell and sharp claws for hacking though ice.
3. Tantrum - fuel carrier for isolated missions. Tough enough to survive the weather conditions and badass in a fight.
4. Octopunch - 'cause he's the greatest. In fact he could do all four of these missions himself - at the same time!
5. Blast Off - air support - death from (high) above!

Great picks Bowlhead!

I had a feeling you were gonna put Octopunch and Snaptrap in the arctic... there's just something awesome about big sea-monster types bursting through the snow...

Re: Pursuit of... ENERGON!
You know it had to be done. I'd prefer them, the rest of the Seacons, Squeezeplay and Finback for naval/deep sea missions though.

Thinking about it, Chainclaw was a missed opportunity for the Autobot Arctic Team.

That's a quality idea! I'll crack onto that after we've had a few more posts here! Smart plan Sharpy! I'll do a GI Joe one on the Other Toy board later as well.
