Transformers Toy News

Griffin, the admin of OzFormers has posted some infromation from the Australian Toy Fair which includes word that MP Tracks will not be MP-25 and that 6 more Masterpiece figures will be released in Japan this year, after Star Saber with those toys being:

  1. Gold Bumblebee (Goldbug) - July
  2. Convoy re-issue - Assumed August
  3. Tracks - Assumed August
  4. Secret - MP25 expected to be announced shortly - September
  5. New Sports Car - Oct
  6. New Sports Car - Nov

Below you will find a quote of the full new report which contains further information on the Australian releases.

Photos later tonight, and the full report.... but some teaser info to get you interested and to send the global fansites into meltdown.

Generations Devastator on display with my Gen1 Devastator - BigW already signed up for June/July.

More JP Masterpiece coming this year - Gold bumblebee July, Convoy reissue, Tracks (not MP25), MP25 in Sept (I can't reveal name before TakaraTomy), and two new "sports cars" for OCT & NOV.

Platinum edition - Myer will have Seeker pack and YOTG pair... while ToysRUs will have Insecticon pack, Perceptor/Blaster, Trypticon, aaaaand.... Dinobots. YES, Gen1 Dinobots multipack which I hope is all five.

JP Stinger still for this month, only at TRU though.

GEN Slingshot & Wildrider don't exist (yet) for Hasbro Generations, but might next year as Combiners are going to be at least two years.

Leader Starscream for wave 4.

Hasbro MP Starscream is the second (MP11) version because fans wanted it.

Hasbro MP Bluestreak will be in July.

Toyworld's cheaper prices were indeed just introductory prices from Hasbro.

Loyal Subjects w3 should be out in the next month.

That's most of it. More later, probably after midnight though.

Go nuts...

Go nuts indeed!

Transformers Toy News

Australian Transformers fansite Ozformers are reporting that Hasbro may be releaseing Masterpiece Soundwave within Australia, via Toys R Us, as well as a new Masterpiece figure in the form of Acidstorm, a green recolour of Starscream. The news came about when Ozformers member Ultra Mackness contacted Hasbro Australia's customer support asking about a possible Australian release of Masterpiece Soundwave and was told that Soundwave would be released in Toys R Us in July 2013.

Having received this replied another member, Griffin, then proceeded to contact TRU to ask if other Masterpiece figures were listed within their system. They replied to him stating that they had a listing for a Masterpiece Acidstorm. If true, then this figures will also be released within the US with a very small chance that we may see them in other territories in 2014.  Below is a copy of the original communications.

Ultra Mackness:Okay so to help me make a decision about whether I give Takara my cash for MP Soundwave, I decided to email Hasbro about whether there will be a Hasbro release of MPSW or not and just got this reply:
"Hi Michael, I am sorry for the delay in responding. I have checked with a colleague who specializes in Transformers. He has confirmed that the Masterpiece Soundwave line will be sold in Australia through Toys-R-Us, but not until July 2013. They are expected to sell in Toys-R-Us from July to September. Kind regards, Hasbro Consumer Services"

Griffin wrote on the Ozformers board: "As mentioned in the Hasbro MP Soundwave topic (which is now confirmed to be coming out in mid-2013), I asked ToysRUs if any more Masterpiece toys are in their system, hoping it was Sideswipe.... but no, a different Masterpiece toy by Hasbro is coming to ToysRUs at the same time as Soundwave..... Acid Storm. A green Starscream redeco, to add to the Masterpiece seeker squadron. Priced at AU$100, it is $20 more than Thundercracker... so could have a similar price increase in America. Considering how many Masterpiece toys are coming out of Japan at the moment, I was not expecting Hasbro to release one that Japan hasn't done (yet).  Acid Storm was a classic-verse toy/character that didn't get released in Japan either, so maybe this MP toy is a Hasbro exclusive as well."

Transformers Toy News

Ozformers, the Australian fansite, is reporting that Masterpiece Optimus Prime will be released "down-under" in October this year at a retail price of $150 (that's Australian Dollars).  This would work out as a $100 at US retail and, if Toys R Us US pick him up, probably an inflated UK price of between £80 and £100.

TFW2005.com member davieanix has posted a sighting of the second wave of the Powercore Combiner 5-packs at a K-mart store in Geelong, Victoria, Austraila. The second wave includes Double Clutch with Rallybots and Mudslinger with Destructicons.

The Aus release means that a US release will probably happen within the next few weeks with a UK release in a month or so since the Wave 1 figures are doing the rounds at the moment.

Transformers Toy News

Ozformers have posted their coverage from the 2010 Australian Toy Fair with the key points listed below:

First half of 2010 - red packed Movie line continues.
Second half of 2010 - yellow packed Movie line, red packed gimmick figures, Powercore Combiners, Generations, and Speed Stars. (August in America, Jun/Jul in Australia)

Mid year sees a big change in packaging styles for TFs and SW (their biggest two lines at the moment).
Animated - no more new figures to be released here. No Arcee or Ratchet either.
Human Alliance - still a Kmart exclusive here, and they are still committed to the line. But - only releasing 3 mid year and 3 at the end of the year, probably to make them look like a range/variety of figures, instead of one at a time.
Recon Ravage (the mailaway one) will be released here at ToysRUs next month.
MP Grimlock will also be a TRU exclusive here.
TF2 Robot Replicas definitly not being released here.
80% increase in sales for TFs during 2009 ($40mil - $23mil of that while the movie was in theatres), compared to 2008 ($17mil) and 2007 ($17mil).
