Transformers Toy News

Hasbro have posted images of Transformers Dark of the Moon Cyberverse Legion Class Leadfoot, Commander Class Blackout, Legion Class Crowbar and Bolt Bumblebee.

The profile state

CROWBAR infiltrates and observes AUTOBOT tactical movements with unmatched stealth and intellect. He has been trained in the most brutal DECEPTICON attack strategies for the unlikely event he is discovered.

BUMBLEBEE charges into battle, engine roaring, and ready to turn DECEPTICONS into scrap. His dogged bravery is idolized by the AUTOBOTS and feared by his enemies!

LEADFOOT and his cohorts drive fast, have a thing for loud weapons and maintain a strong dislike for DECEPTICONS. But LEADFOOT is not all flash and show; while on CYBERTRON he was called a genius weapon designer!

Together with SCORPONOK, this massive DECEPTION destroyer seeks out his leader’s enemies and annihilates them. BLACKOUT leaves no witnesses to his passing, preferring to destroy everything around him rather than leave anything behind that might benefit the enemy.

On the order slip in this months Master Collector magazine were four listings for previously unheard of Transformers Animated figures.  The toys were Ratchet (another recolour no doubt), Freeway Jazz (a recolour), Blackout and Wingblade Optimus Prime.

No images are available at this time and with other waves seemingly being cancelled, time will tell as to whether these items see an actual release

Transformers Toy News

Yizhi has posted images of what appears to be Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Barricade, who looks more like an Alternator then a Transformers Movie figure.

As usual with toys posted on TF08.net, the item is for sale - so you can expect more images / video reviews in coming days weeks.  This Transformers Revenge of the Fallen toy even has me excited.

Edit: Corrected the name to the actually character I meant .. I used the wrong name-  Moonbug

Transformers Toy News

Derrick Wyatt has posted yet another comment over on his message board regarding Transformers Animated series 3 as well as what influences the Transformers Animated staff.  You can find a quote below.

"My influences are some of the things mentioned above, mixed with a heavy dose of 80's cartoons (Mighty Orbots and others), Hanna Barbera, 2000AD comics, anything Gainax does, Robert Valley and Jamie Hewlett, the list goes on and on. For the design of the new TFA series, I wanted to get back to basics with the Transformers, while splicing in some of that Orbots and ABC Warriors look and feel. It's also been my scheme all along to get new toys made of my old favorite Transformers.

TriBlurr, I think your Beachcomber is pretty close to what we did. I kept his face Smurfy-blue, and colored him all blue from the waste down, so he looks like he's wearing pants and no shoes. Get a job, Beachcomber, you worthless slacker!

The twins jet modes might have a little old school sci-fi tv inspiration in them, yes.

Wow, the Sailor Moon fans are out in force! Sailor Moon probably influenced at least every female crew member that works on Transformers Animated. I'm not sure how much of that ends up in the show. Do you have a specific example of what you think it was influential in?

Blackout is the ANIMATED Blackout. Spittor does have a bot mode. Into space. No hints on Sari.

Transformers Toy News

Derrick Wyatt has posted another response over on his blog in relation to the Jetfire and Jetstorm toys being leaked as well as the images that were leaked yesterday by S250 (52toys.com).

Regarding Jetfire and Jetstorm Derrick's latest comment was:

Hmm. It's sort of their combined mode, I guess. From the early pics I saw the rear of the combined vehicle is supposed to be split to make an "X" shape. It cuts a way better silhouette that way. And yes, the twins will be in season 3.

Regarding the leaked images of Rodimus Prime, Strika, Spittor and Blackout Derrick commented with

Ugh. I hate leaks. They always have the worst quality images. Not even any color! Oh well. Maybe you can see that Spittor's Cybertronian vehicle form is inspired by Don Figueroa's totally freaking awesome BW comic pre-beast Spittor design. And General Strika! Chalk up another personal Transformers life goal for yours truly!
