Michael Bay, the director of Transformers and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, has posted a comment on his message board in regards to a rumoured "Movie phone survey" which was suppose to have revealed details of the Transformers Revenge of the Fallen plot, according to rumour blog transformerslive.blogspot.com. Here's what Mr Bay had to say in response to their article.
"Guys please -- they don't have you surveys that read the plot of Transformers. Three people on the entire lot of Paramount read the script - and I can tell you they don't cold call people and ask them about the want to see of this movie. I love how you guys try to figure it out but it's not happening yet -- you have so much of it wrong."

At a time when Woolworths have gone out of business (though its possible that the new webstore of the same name might eventually pick up toys) and independant Toy Master stores have been closing frequently over the last few years, picking up Transformers within the UK just got even harder. Though there is hope as Toys R Us are starting to open some new stores including one in the Fife area (credit goes to ToyMachine for reporting that one)

Burger King has gained the rights for some Transformers Revenge of the Fallen tie-in's for it's fast food restaurants, along with a few other movie licences also scheduled for 2009.
For the third and fourth quarters, the promotional and product calendar is designed to drive traffic. After Mattel posted an 11% drop in it's sales figures on Wall Street yesterday Hasbro's shares also dropped (even though they haddn't posted any figures).

Everyone knows or knows someone who knows a “Debbie Downer.” That acquaintance or friend that just won’t let you have a good time. They always seem to pull the good times down and ruin the party for the rest of us.
You can find Debbie Downers in the stock market as well. Today’s example is Mattel (NYSE: MAT). After it reported lower earnings and an 11% drop in sales, it dragged Hasbro (NYSE: HAS) down with it.
The reasoning behind most of these moves is that the pressures hurting one company in a sector should be impacting the competition as well.
But that isn’t always the case.
We can find numerous examples of companies in the same industry with the same pressures that deal with those challenges differently. Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV) was able to put up considerable numbers over the past year as its competition suffered greatly. It did this by hedging its oil costs correctly.
Maybe Hasbro hasn’t done the exact same thing as Mattel – and will report similar earnings figures? But who’s to say they did. As smart investors, we cannot assume that is the case. As of this writing, Mattel is down 16% and Hasbro is down 9%.
Let's think about that, a 9% percent drop on no information about their business model. It’s the kind of emotional movement that value investors love.
