Thanks to Sven for sending in the following report of Buy One Get One Free at Sainsburys
Hi all,
Did the weekly shop today and ended up having to go to Tesco and Sainsburys. There are some great offers running around:
Tesco
Animated Rollout Optimus Prime half price at £24.98
Animated Leader Bulkhead at £19.98
Animated DVD double pack at £10.00
However the offer that caught my attention the most considering how often Universe items are missed out of store offers:
Sainsburys
Universe Classic Deluxes £12.99, buy one get one free. (Shame my local only had Acid Storm and Sideswipe in stock)
Also of note that the Tesco Extra (Cradley Heath) had the Universe Voyager versions of Dropshot, and Leo Prime plus "Exclusive" Animated "Deluxe bundles" featuring a yellow Ratchet with two activators at £20.

According to Kapow toys the UK release of the normal Transformers Animated Ultra Maganus has now officially been cancelled with the Roadbuster
Magnus taking his place. However things are not all bad for UK fans as Shockwave is now apparently confirmed and and will retail at
£22.99 (report Kapow Toys).
Unfortunately due to NDAs surrounding the Hasbro display at the New York Toy Fair we are unable to UK whole Transformers release schedule for 2009 at this point, however we can say that it is in the final stages and that we hope to bring you more shortly after the US event, so for now we will bring you any news that retailers receive.

At a time when Woolworths have gone out of business (though its possible that the new webstore of the same name might eventually pick up toys) and independant Toy Master stores have been closing frequently over the last few years, picking up Transformers within the UK just got even harder. Though there is hope as Toys R Us are starting to open some new stores including one in the Fife area (credit goes to ToyMachine for reporting that one)

The UK Toy Fair (or British Toy Fair) starts today and runs through the weekend with today being press day. Hasbro have a large stall at the event where they will be display some of the figures from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen as well as G.I-Joe: The Rise of Cobra. The event is strictly trade only with last years clamp down on "press passes" just as strong this year to keep internet journalist away.
Do not fear though, as Transformers At The Moon will be in attendance at the event at some point over the next five days, so we will bring you a full report (embargos allowing) with the full details as soon as we can.
In releated news the Bastion Press Centre report that "The volume of UK toy sales grew by seven per cent in 2008 according to
retail tracking group NPD*. The group has also estimated the UK toy
market is worth £2.9bn1. The value of the industry fell by two per cent
on the previous year, compared to an overall drop in UK retail sales of
3.3 per cent**. The figures were unveiled at Toy Fair this morning by
BTHA (British Toy & Hobby Association) chairman Roger Dyson. Toy
Fair is the industry’s annual trade event currently taking place at
ExCeL in London and is open to the trade until Saturday."

The owner of Kapow Toys Red Leader has posted some information over at TFW2005 regarding some UK Transformers Animated released that will be hitting the shelves in the next few months. The figures are Roadbuster Ultra Magnus, Shadow Blade Megatron along side the Season 3 character Safeguard (Jetfire and Jetstorm). Red Leader should have a firmer release date today and will be placing their pre-order shortly. This confirmed what we reported on the weekend regarding Shadow Blade Megatron being in the new Argos catalogue
Sadly the UK Transformers brand manager from 2007-2008 is no longer employed by Hasbro so we are trying to get in touch with her replacement to try to find out more.
