Jim Sorenson has posted a link to a public Google Drive share containing PDF files of scripts that were purchased from Heritage Auctions when Ron Friedman was selling a lot of material from Sunbow. Below is a copy of his announcement via Facebook

So, a few years back, several Transformers fans worked together to buy some Ron Friedman scripts at auction, digitize them, and post them. Since the original postings are somewhat lost to the sands of time, Chris McFeely and I made sure to get them all back up where they should be easy to find. Here's the google drive link:

If you've got more and want to share (or just have a good lead), let us know and we'll make it happen.

Auto Assembly have announced their latest guest for the August 2014 show as Jim Sorenson. It will be Jim's 3rd Auto Assembly and his latest book with Bill Forster, Transformers Legacy: The Art of Transformers Packaging, is due out in May of this year so be sure to bring it along and Ask Jim and questions you may have regarding this ands his other work.

We are thrilled to announce that in 2014, Auto Assembly will once again be graced by renowned Transformers Author, Jim Sorenson! Jim has worked with IDW since 2006 and has been the pen behind many pieces of great Transformers literature such as, The Ark (1 and 2), The AllSpark Almanac (1 and 2), The Art of Transformers Prime and The Transformers 30th Anniversary Collection. He has also leant his talents to several projects outside of the Transformers Universe (debatably!) such as the much lauded GI:Joe Field Manuals. Jim’s latest offering, Transformers Legacy: The Art of Transformers Packaging (compiled with longtime co-creator, Bill Forster) is scheduled for a May 2014 release. Be sure to pre-order a copy and bring it with you to Auto Assembly to be signed by the man himself! We have attached the link below.

Auto Assembly have made another guest announcement for this years event and it's none other than Jim Sorenson!!  Yes after a 3 year absence from Auto Assembly, Jim, who's last UK show appearance was at Roll Out Roll Call where he and Bill Forster announced the release of their G.I-Joe Field Manual books, Jim is returning but will he be bringing the fez?

Here is a copy of the official announcement:

After a three year absence, we are proud to announce that writer Jim Sorenson is making a much-overdue return to Auto Assembly for the 2013 convention taking place over the weekend of 9th – 11th August 2013.

In his own words, Jim is a super-secret spy, has a motorcycle, marooned in space, meets Hercules… or not… He’s been a long-time fan of science-fiction literature in general and Transformers in particular. His guidebooks are well regarded by the fan communities for their exhaustive attention to detail. Reports of his incarceration in another dimension should be dismissed as the unfounded rumors they are.

He has been working for IDW since 2006 and in that time he has been responsible (solely and in collaboration with Bill Forster) for Transformers: The Ark, The Ark Volume II, The AllSpark Almanac, The Complete Ark, The AllSpark Almanac II. He is currently working on Transformers Legacy and the Transformers: 30th Anniversary Collection. In addition to these he also wrote the GI: Joe field Manuals, volumes 1 and 2 and is currently working on a new Robotech RPG supplement. Jim’s blog can be found at http://boltax.blogspot.co.uk/

At Auto Assembly 2010 Jim presented Oddities And Curiosities, a retrospective look at 25 years of rare Transformers artwork to a crowd of over 500 people in Birmingham, England and he will be taking to the stage at the convention for a Q&A Panel… who knows what he will say this time around!

If you have not already booked for the convention, tickets are still available and they can be purchased from the site at: http://www.autoassembly.org.uk/auto-assembly-2013-ticket-bookings/ but they are selling faster than ever this year so book early to avoid disappointment as we do have a cut-off of 1,000 attendees this year!

As well as Jim, we are being joined at the convention by Dan Gilvezan (G1 Bumblebee), Neil Kaplan (RiD Prime) and Steve Blum (TF: Prime Starscream), as well as comic guests Simon Furman, James Roberts, Andrew Griffith, Nick Roche, and many more.

Auto Assembly 2013 is Europe’s largest Transformers convention and is taking place over the weekend of 9th – 11th August 2013 at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel. To book your tickets or find out more including details of all the dealers attending, all of our guests and a full schedule for the weekend, visit the website at www.autoassembly.org.uk

Hope to see you all in August!

Transformers Cartoons

Earlier this week Jim Sorenson posted a brand new Ark Addendum over onto his blog. The new article was regarding the transformation sequence for the Headmaster triple changer Apeface.  You can view the entry here along with the character model, but below you will find the post which Jim made.

"Hola, amigos!  I know it's been a long time since I rapped at you, but I've been HELLA busy with my move to Albuquerque.  I love my new home, but between closing the deal and repairing all the minor things wrong with it and unpacking and furnishing it, it's sucked up just about all of my time.

Anyway, it's been a couple of weeks, but I should be back on track for a while as life calms down.  So, checking on Martin's tally of my missing model sheets, I come to... APEFACE!

Full disclosure: I don't have the model sheet of his transformation to jet mode.  I dunno why, I just don't.  I do have both sets for Snapdragon, so look for that soon.

My main memory of Apeface is trying to hunt down a spare gun for him.  You see, you can snap his gun into either side of his jet mode, but that seemed awkward to me, so I went ahead and got an extra.  The gun isn't perfectly symmetrical, so that doesn't work 100% either, but it was neat at the time.  He never got a lot of screen time, but in the Underbase arc he used his own arm to bludgeon another Decepticon into pulp.  You gotta love that!"

Jim Sorenson has posted two new articles on his blgo The Disciples of Boltax.  The first covers the Transformation sequence of Metal Hawk, where as the second covers his GI-Joe Field Manual book which is out today

The G.I. Joe Field Manual hits stores TOMORROW! Get on down to your local comic book shop and pick up a copy.  I'll post an official reaction thread, and I'd surely love to hear your thoughts.

For those of you who missed it, this is my compilation of G.I. Joe animation models from the 1983-1985 period.  That includes both mini-series as well as season one.  From Ace to Zap, from the A.S.P. to Zartan, it's a more than comprehensive guide to the G.I. Joe cartoon covering the Joe team, Cobra, and plenty of guests.  M.A.S.S. Device? Check!  Weather Dominator? Don't you know it! Honda Lou West?  But of course! Oktober Guard? I'd be remiss otherwise.
en abandoned by the tail end of 1986.

Transformers Cartoons

Jim Sorenson has posted a new Ark Addendum entry onto his blog entitled "Sureshot's Transform (and even more Farscape)."  As you can guess, the entry covers the Targetmasters transformation sequence but here is Jim to tell you more:

"The Ark Addendum marches on!  I'm honestly not sure what I'll bring you next week, but this week I finish off the last of many partial sequences I've been through, the transformations for the Headmaster characters.

Sureshot's our boy this time.  I'd say my favorite image is probably step 1, just showing the car zooming along at high speed.  It's nice that they didn't just reuse the basic car model.  It's a bit odd that they violate the 180 degree rule from that shot to the next one, though."

Transformers Cartoons

Jim Sorenson has updated his blog, Disciples of Boltax, with a new Ark Addendum entry.  The new entry is the fifth part of Jim's look at Madman's Paradise.  Here is a copy of Jim's description of the character models:

"It's been a long, twilight struggle, but we've made it through Madman's Paradise!  We come to the final batch of models, the Golden One's loyalists.

Here you can see one of the tricks I sometimes employ.  Treant the second and treant the first are obviously very similar models.  To keep them from looking TOO much alike, at least on a subconscious level, I reversed the second one.  It also makes the page flow better.  Note that I didn't do that with the second Birdman model, because I believe it's just the same guy carrying some explosives. "

During the IDW Botcon panel the next book from Jim Sorenson and Bill Forster was announced as Legacy: The Box Art of the Transformers.  As the name suggests, the book will the box art that was used with the toys, bringing together material from Japan, the US and, with luck, Europe.

Here's Jim to tell you more

"Legacy: The Box Art of The Transformers is going to be something special.  I've been working on it for a while now, and I'm really amazingly pleased with how well it is going.  We've been working with Hasbro, Part One (the parent company of eHobby), and numerous private collectors to pull together the definitive coffee table book of Transformers packaging art.

A lot of things, like the date and the page count, are still up in the air.  However, here's what has already been decided on:

1: The scope will be G1 and G2.  No Beast Wars or beyond.  We'll be covering every year in the US, as well as the entire Japanese set of releases.  It's possible that we might get Europe in too, if we can find the material.  That remains to be seen.
2: The extras will be substantial.  We're talking essays and interviews with the original artists, modern repaints of vintage artwork (think eHobby exclusives), unused box art, production sketches for box art and more.
3: In terms of scale, we've got more then 300 images in hand, and more than 150 additional pieces pledged.  I'd like to get those numbers up, so if you are a collector of the originals, drop me a line!"

You can read more of Jim's thoughts on his blog: http://boltax.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/transformers-legacy.html

Jim Sorenson has updated his blog, Disciples of Boltax, with a report on Roll Out Roll Call 2012 which took place in Southhampton here in the UK over the weekend of the 10th and the 11th.  We had the pleasure of meeting up with Jim and Bill before the show and taking them on a bit of a tour as we drove down to the show, but it's a great insight to read a report on any show from the perspective of one of the guests.  You can read it here.
